FACTS:
  • 125 MW approximate size,
    53 to 65 wind turbines
  • Electricity produced is equivalent to average consumption of 33,000 homes
  • Targeting 2009
    commercial operation
REASON:
  • Data collected indicates Laurel Mountain has a good wind resource
  • Existing transmission line provides good access and available capacity
  • Project is compatible with historic and continued use for logging
BENEFITS:
  • State and local tax payments in excess of $800,000 per year if full 125 MW is built
  • 80 to 100 construction jobs
  • 8-10 operations jobs
  • Significant local purchases during construction
  • Electricity produced with no emissions, no greenhouse gases and an inexhaustible supply of American fuel
